Milwaukee MX FUEL – What You Need To Know

Last updated: October 11, 2022

Milwaukee have always had a trade-focused approach to power tool design, showcased with their M12 and M18 lines which push the boundaries of what is capable from 18V and 12V batteries. With over 100 years experience manufacturing powerful, high-quality power tools, they are constantly introducing innovative new technological advancements, especially in the cordless power tool industry.

While power tools have received countless benefits due to new cordless technology, light equipment and larger tools haven’t seen quite the same level of advancement.

This is all due to change now that Milwaukee have introduced their most powerful, reliable and robust tool system yet: the MX FUEL system. Designed to optimize run time, performance and efficiency, the Milwaukee MX FUEL range gives tradesmen the tools they need for the most demanding tasks. Plus, they also eliminate many jobsite hazards such as noise, vibration and emissions.

What is MX FUEL?

MX Fuel is the new cordless tool system from Milwaukee that aims to provide cordless solutions for applications that have previously required the use of mains or gas powered tools.

Designed for heavy-duty machinery and light equipment, MX FUEL is meant to complement Milwaukee’s existing M12 and M18 systems, rather than replace them.

Similarly to those systems, it features 3 Milwaukee-exclusive innovations:

Why is MX FUEL necessary?

After spending thousands of hours with tradesmen and contractors across job sites around the world, Milwaukee were able to identify a range of safety, workflow and productivity issues within some of their product categories, in particular gas powered and corded tools. These problems ranged from ergonomic issues that would cause stress on the operator’s body over time, to “gas headaches”, to power cords presenting tripping hazards.

In identifying these problems, Milwaukee saw an opportunity to innovate on their existing product lineup and design new battery technology specifically for light equipment. In doing so, their hope is to reduce exposure to harmful conditions and minimize any health concerns for professionals in the workplace. Alongside this, MX FUEL tools should considerably improve efficiency and productivity when compared to corded or gas powered alternatives.

Milwaukee MX FUEL Batteries

The all-new MX FUEL battery system is the backbone of the new cordless light equipment range. Featuring significantly longer battery life, these battery packs provide enough power for operating over very long sessions – which would have been practically impossible with previous battery pack technology!

Milwaukee currently have two new MX FUEL REDLITHIUM™ battery packs available:

MXF-CP203

Milwaukee MX FUEL CP203 3.0Ah Battery

The smaller and more compact of the two, the CP203 battery pack effectively provides 3.0Ah of power for operating tools and equipment. Capable of charging in 45 minutes, it is extremely durable thanks to the rubber overmold, and is able to operate in temperatures as low as -28.0°. It features an onboard battery level indicator and integrated carrying handle for added convenience.

MXF-XC406

Milwaukee MX FUEL XC406 6.0Ah Battery

The next step up from the CP203, the XC406 battery pack is rated at 6.0Ah of power for maximum performance and run-time with MX tools. Capable of recharging in 90 minutes, it is compatible with the ONE-KEY™ system for tracking and managing equipment from your smart device. This heavy-duty battery pack offers performance comparable with mains power, with extremely long run time and performance.

Now you might be wondering – what tools can you use with MX FUEL? Well, let’s take a look!
