The DeWalt POWERSTACK™ Battery is the first battery pack in the world to utilise a lithium-ion pouch cell. Compared to the lithium-ion cylindrical cells previously used in power tool batteries, these pouches offer incredible advantages.
Due to several restrictions, power tools were never supposed to be used with cylindrical cell batteries. The main problems with cylindrical cells are two. First, from the performance standpoint, a small surface area on the cell’s end restricts the power throughput. Secondly, making the electrical components requires a second component that adds inefficiency to the system.
Thus, DeWalt has developed a more efficient and compact solution, which may revolutionise the use of cordless power tools in the future. In the DeWalt POWERSTACK™, lithium-ion pouch cells are stacked on top of one another, giving the battery its name.

The DeWalt’s POWERSTACK™ Battery was released in December 2021 as the first of its kind.
It is lighter and more efficient than its predecessors due to the use of lithium-ion pouch cells rather than lithium-ion cylindrical cells, as was previously mentioned.
Less internal resistance, a longer lifespan, and better internal space utilisation are all benefits of lithium-ion stacking technology.
This implies that you can reduce the packs’ size while maintaining the same power output. Naturally, this high energy density also gives you the option to occupy the same space while supplying more power.
