Last updated: January 25, 2023

Whether you are an enthusiast or not, maintaining a garden requires of lot of effort and dedication! Are you in the gardening/landscaping business, or are you just looking for gardening tips and ideas? If you’re not too sure of whether you need an electric or petrol mower, or maybe you are unsure if the tools used are appropriate for your needs, we decided to put together a garden power tool list!

So, what would you need for keeping your garden in great shape? Well, it is all based on your requirements, available space, and brand preferences. Ideally you would want to make your job easier, so we will start with the powered garden machinery and equipment!

Lawn Mowers

One of the most popular choices among garden power tools is the lawn mowerThat’s because it allows for the easiest and fastest grass cutting! However, with so many models and types available, which one will it be right for you? Do you need a petrol lawnmower or electric lawn mower?

Deciding on this usually depends on the size of your lawn, since you wouldn’t want to over use or under use the equipment, or maybe not being able of using it at all, as you might not have an electric connection?!

Corded Electric Mowers

A corded electric lawn mower will suit a small to medium size garden, allowing for convenient usage while keeping close to the power supply. You might need an extension, since the cables are sometimes shorter!

Cordless Lawn Mowers

At the same time, cordless electric lawn mowers are becoming the most preferred nowadays, due to the new technology incorporated allowing for maximum efficiency and increased battery life! And with so many models of different motor capacities, they would suit any small to medium sized gardens.

Petrol Lawn Mowers

If you think that your garden is a little bit larger, or you don’t want to have to deal with cables and reels, or you don’t want to have to worry about having the batteries charged, the petrol lawnmower might be right choice for you. However, you would need to remember to fuel up!

Grass Trimmers

Even though lawn mowers are the most efficient grass cutting equipment, they do not allow for detailed jobs, because of the position of the cutters which are situated under the machine, restricting the cutters reach. Which is why grass trimmers, also known as grass strimmers are the perfect addition to your garden machinery, allowing for a neat cut right up to the edge.

As is the case with grass trimmers, choosing the best strimmer for your garden depends on whether you prefer electric strimmers, battery strimmers, or petrol trimmers?

Cordless Electric Strimmers

If you’ve already got a cordless garden power tool, buying an electric cordless strimmer of the same make could be a wise choice, since the majority of batteries are interchangeable within the power tool range! Not to mention the DeWalt Flexvolt 54/18v Trimmers, returning amazing results while the batteries will last you hours!

Corded Grass Trimmers

Electric Corded Trimmers are usually perfect for small garden trimming jobs; however, you will be restricted by the cord. If you are planning to use it on basic application in small gardens this will save you the time of charging the batteries and buying fuel, but you will most likely require an extension cable!

Petrol Strimmers

If you’ve got a large garden, then petrol trimmers will definitely do the job, however this comes at a cost, you’ve got added weight added by the bigger/large design, while they are not exactly the most environmentally friendly!

Hedge Cutters

Once again, and this will be the case for the majority of garden equipment, you will need to choose between Petrol hedge cutters, Electric Hedge Trimmers & Cordless Hedge Trimmers!

Petrol Hedge Cutters

With the Petrol Hedge Cutter, you’ve got the advantage of constant power throughout the operation, while being used on both small and large bush sections conveniently. As is the case with all petrol-powered garden machinery, they eliminate the risk of electrocution, we all know that one person and if you don’t.. well that’s because it’s you. Since we do get a lot of rain in the UK, the petrol hedge trimmers will allow for uninterrupted work in all weather conditions, which is why they are so popular among professionals.

Corded Electric Hedge Trimmers

The electric hedge trimmers are still a popular popular choice for smaller domestic and DIY bush trimming applications, since they require less maintenance than the petrol hedge trimmers. They come in a lighter design, and are less noisy than the petrol ones. However, you do need to consider the cable restriction, which can be quite hazardous.

Cordless Hedge Trimmers

As we already mentioned the benefit of buying cordless garden machinery of the same brand, with cordless hedge cutters you will get impressive power whilst also having maximum manoeuvrability! These can be the best hedge trimmers for domestic work, since you can re-charge the batteries between use and thanks to the Li-Ion technology you benefit from longer running time.

Leaf Blowers

A leaf blower is a versatile piece of garden equipment, which will save you a lot of effort in tidying up the garden! How do you know which garden blower is the right one for you? Same old things to think about! Based on how big your garden is, and the type of leaf blowing application!

However, in this case you would have to choose if whether you need a blower, leaf vacuum or even both! There are models out there, including the Bosch Als2500 240V Garden Blower Vac, capable of both vacuuming and blowing leaves!

We’re pretty sure that you’ve already got an idea to what it means choosing the right power supply! Therefore, choosing between a petrol leaf blower, corded electric leaf blower or cordless leaf blower should be a similar decision! Available in different designs and makes, there is quite a variety to choose from; ranging from Bosch Garden Blowers, to Makita Petrol Blower, to Dewalt Brushless Flexvolt 54v/18v Outdoor Blower and many more!
