Tek Screws or Tech Screws? What are they, and how to use them?
Tek Screws, Tech Screws or Self Drilling Screws are only a few names the industry uses. We’ve noticed a lot of confusion and questions around this subject, so we figured out that it is only fair to do some research and give you a better understanding of this product.
Tek Screws are a popular choice that covers an extensive range of applications since they don’t require any pre-drilling. Their design allows them to be screwed directly into various materials.
With an extensive range of Tek Screw types and designs available, some of the applications they are used for include: self-drilling into metal sheets, steel, timber, wood and more. This leads to confusion and explains why they are also known as self-drilling or self-tapping screws.
Now, we have come across different terms, such as tech screws, tec screws, teck screws and some other variations, but unfortunately, this is just the result of misspelling. Sorry guys 🙁
Their use is well spread across a wide range of jobs; thus their design varies based on their application. They are manufactured in different shapes and sizes, with hexagon or Torx heads, some even built-in washers. However, one thing is for sure they are the most popular choice for roofing jobs.
